Course Overview (directly from TCH 306 syllabus) 

The purpose of this course is to acquaint teacher candidates with the role of reading and literacy in the middle grades. Emphasis is placed on factors that influence students’ reading and learning from content texts and adolescent literature, as well as on the role of technology in the classroom. Students examine, apply, refine, and reflect upon various strategies designed to enhance literacy at the middle school level.
